Abstract
Recently we have demonstrated the dealkylation of quaternary ammonium compounds by 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane.1 It is believed that an alkyl exchange is involved in this reaction. With the objective of further developing new dequaternization methods, a number of nucleophiles has since been examined for their effectiveness. This communication discloses our results of this investigation.
