Abstract
Only a few reports about general synthetic procedure for α-alkoxy- or α-hydroxy-γ-crotonolactones1, among which α-tetronic acid, i.e., α-methoxy-γ-methyl-γ-crotono-lactone, was a degradation product of cephalosporin C2, have been found in literatures.
