Abstract
The addition of Grignard reagents to the carbon-carbon triple bond of alkynes containing hydroxyl1,2 or amino3 groups properly situated are well documented. When acetylenic alcohols with one carbon separating the triple bond from the hydroxyl group are reacted with allyl Grignard reagents a stereospecific addition is observed both in terms of site specificity and resulting double bond stereochemistry.
