Abstract
The notable fungicidal properties of acetylenic sulfones1,2 aroused our interest for other functionally substituted acetylenes, in particular those with a sulfonyl group directly attached to the triple bond. This prompted us to carry out some explorative research in the field of acetylenic sulfon-amides and— sulfinamides. The formation of an acetylenic sulfonamide has been claimed by Gladshtein et al.3, who reported the synthesis of (1) in low yield from ethynylmagnesium bromide and sulfuryl chloride, followed by treatment with aniline.
