Acetylenic Sulfinamides: A Novel Class of Compounds

Abstract

The notable fungicidal properties of acetylenic sulfones^1,2 aroused our interest for other functionally substituted acetylenes, in particular those with a sulfonyl group directly attached to the triple bond. This prompted us to carry out some explorative research in the field of acetylenic sulfon-amides and— sulfinamides. The formation of an acetylenic sulfonamide has been claimed by Gladshtein et al.³, who reported the synthesis of (1) in low yield from ethynylmagnesium bromide and sulfuryl chloride, followed by treatment with aniline.
