Preparation of Aromatic 1-Deuterio-aldehydes

Abstract

Several methods already exist for the preparation of 1-deuterio-aldehydes ^1-4 but they usually suffer from limitations. They may have low synthetic yields, low deuterium incorporations or use costly reagents. We report a simple one-pot synthesis of aromatic l-d-aldehydes, with 100% incorporation of deuterium which is amenable to large scale preparations, based upon our synthesis of aromatic aldehydes from the corresponding acid chlorides.⁵
