Dihydrojasmone Synthesis. Pyrolytic Cleavage of a Cyclopropyl Ketone

Abstract

The jasmonoids are among the most frequently synthesized natural products. Although a great number of approaches were summarized in a review1 in 1974, new syntheses2 totalled in some twenties have appeared in the interim. We now wish to communicate another route to dihydrojasmone (1) embodying a pathway to the familiar undecan-2,5-dione.
