Abstract
The chemical reactions leading to the structure elucidation of oroselol (1), an angular furanocoumarin first isolated1 from the roots of Athamanta oreoselinum L. (Peucedanum oreoselinum) have been reviewed.2 This product has also been isolated from Nardostachys jatamansi D. C. (Valerianaceae)3 and various Umbelliferae.4 We here describe an exceedingly simple synthesis from readily available starting materials.
