Synthesis of 14-Hydroxy-8-Azaprostanoic Acids Methyl Ester

Abstract

Studies from a number of laboratories^1–8 have led to the synthesis of aza-prostaglandin analogs with interesting physiological activity. We now describe a new approach to the 8-azaprostanoic skeleton utilizing as a key intermediate the 3,5-disubstituted isoxazole acid (6), quantitatively obtained by alkaline hydrolysis of the corresponding ester(5).
