Abstract
Phenothiazines find numerous applications in medicine and industry1−3. This class of haterocyclics does not constitute an important and interesting class of compounds only for their usefulness and their synthetic investigations, but also for their structural and spectral studies correlate activity versus structure. In this communication we are reporting a convenient and simple method for synthesis of 1-nitro-7-ethoxyphenothiazines and their I.R., Mass spectral studies. Althougi a number of methods have been developed for the synthesis of nitrophenothiazines but none has been found convenient for direct synthesis of nitrophenothiazines.
