Abstract
Numerous schemes have been explored over the past half century for the synthesis of ketal derivatives of 4–hydroxycyclohexanone and the related 1,4–cyclohexanedione.1 All suffer from varying degrees of inefficiency or expense, especially when large quantities of these useful bifunctional intermediates are required.1
