Abstract

There are relatively few methods for synthesizing bicyclo[2.1.1]-hexenes and tricyclo[2.2.0.02,6]hexanes.1 However, now that benzvalene (I), the highly strained structural isomer of benzene has become a readily available compound,2 it is possible to prepare disubstituted compounds like II and III in a straightforward fashion.
