Abstract

The oxidation of thiols yields the corresponding disulfides. Some of the oxidizing agents that are described in the literature are hydrogen peroxide3), lead (IV)acetate4), thallium(III)acetate5), dimethyl sulfoxide6), iodine in ethanol or alkaline solution7) and molecular oxygen in the presence of almina8).
