Pages 873-879 | Published online: 06 Dec 2006

Abstract

Bromoallenes are useful intermediates in organic synthesis (1) and also occur in a few natural products (2). They usually are prepared from propargylic alcohols by reaction with hydrobromic acid in the presence of cuprous bromide (2) but these conditions are usually drastic. A milder method has been reported but its scope is more limited (4).
