Abstract

o-Aminothiophenols are an important class of starting material for synthesis of a number of heterocycles, e.g., phenothiazines1, benzothiazoles2 and benzothiazines3. However, most of the methods for their preparation either lack generality or are inefficient, giving low yields or hard to purify mixtures of products. Further, preparation and purification of these compounds is complicated by their inherent lack of stability.
