Abstract
We recently reported that aromatic acid halide reacts with aromatic solvent in the presence of iron pentacarbonyl to give a mixture of triarylmethane and tetraarylethane (equation 1).1 The mechanism for the formation of the latter product may proceed via a diarylmethanol intermediate (1).
