Abstract
Sucessful preparation of azacycloheptanes (and larger azacycloalkanes) via cyclization normally requires very high dilution conditions1,2. We wish to report a good yield synthesis of azacycloheptanes based on the ring closure of aminoalcohols with Raney nickel. This reagent has only been used to obtain piperazines and piperidines from 1,2-3 and 1,5-aminoalcohols4 respectively.
