Wittig Reactions Initiated by Dealkylative Decarboxylation

Abstract

A rapid procedure allowing routine olefinations to be achieved with minimal experimental difficulty could prove highly useful. Wittig reagents with their limited shelf life due to oxygen and moisture sensitivity cannot readily be stored. We would like to here disclose a stable, easily prepared reagent which requires only a thermolysis to serve as a convenient in situ source of phosphorus ylide.
