Abstract

The bicyclic valence tautomers of cyclooctatetraene and 1,3,5-cyclooctatriene were prepared by MnO2 oxidation of the appropriate hydrazo compounds at low temperatures and trapped with singlet oxygen to give the corresponding endoperoxides.
