Abstract

Chiral 2-substituted acrylate esters are obtained from the reaction between aldehydes and acrylate esters masked with an “internal” chiral auxiliary. Initial studies show that a similar result is achieved if S-(-)-retronecine is used as “external” chiral auxiliary.
