Abstract

Anhydrous (+)-2,3-0-isopropylidene-D-glyceraldehyde (2) of high optical purity has been prepared in 91% isolated yield from 1,2:5,6-di-0-isopropylidene-D-mannitol (1) on a multigram scale.
