Abstract
The title compound, a cembrane-type macrocyclic diterpene 13,14-dehydro—cembrene—C(2), has been synthesized through five steps from E,E—farnesyl acetate(3). The key steps in the synthesis are the Aldol condensation of aldehyde 5 with methyl isopropyl ketone and the intramolecular cyclization of acyclic dicarbonyl precursor 7 induced by low valent titanium reagent(TiCl4/Zn).
