Abstract
A convenient and economic large scale preparation of bis-(2-hydroxyethyl) diselenide is reported. The title compound is a useful source of nucleophilic 2-hydroxyethyl selenolate anion or electrophilic 2-hydroxyethyl selenenyl halides or pseudohalides.
