Abstract

Reissert epoxides, crystalline oxidation products of quinoline Reissert compounds, obtained by treatment of Reissert compounds with peracids, react with N-nucleophiles to 4-hydroxyquinolines. Depending on the choosed acyl group of the Reissert compound and the selected amine, various secondary and tertiary amides are available as second products under mild conditions.
