Abstract

A general method for the facile preparation of S-(alkylsulfenyl)cysteines is described. It employs S-(methoxycarbonylsulfenyl)cysteine hydrochloride [H-Cys(Scm)-OH.HCl] as an easily accessible parent thiolactivated cysteine derivative.
