Abstract

The first stereoselective total synthesis of (–)-3β, 4α-dihydroxy-β-dihydroagarofuran (1) and 3α, 4α-oxidoagarofuran (2) has been described. The key step is the epoxidation of α-agarofuran (6) with dimethyldioxirane.
