Abstract

Abstract: As part of our studies directed toward the development of new HIV protease inhibitors, a new type of C2-symmetric molecule having a dimeric hydroxyethylene isosteric moiety is synthesised by Cu(II)-mediated dimerisation of the sodium enolate of an amino acid-derived methylketo copound.

Notes

Prepared from the corresponding cyanohydrin, by silylation followed by DIBAL reduction.
