Abstract

Abstract: 2-Alkynylthio benzenes were reduced to 2-Alkenylthio benzenes with diisobutyl aluminum hydride. Mono chlorination of these compounds with sulfuryl chloride and pyridine followed by hydrolysis, in the presence of CuII salts, gave α,β-unsaturated aldehydes.
