Abstract

The two-step synthesis of 3-(2-pyridyldithio)propionic acid is described, which includes the chlorination of 2,2′-dipyridyl disulfide with sulfuryl chloride and the reaction of the formed 2-pyridylsulfenyl chloride with 3-mercaptopropionic acid.
