Abstract

Direct conversion of aryl acetates into aryl mefhoxymethyl ethers or aryl trialkylsilyl ethers was readily accomplished by treatment with methoxymethyl bromide or trialkylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate, respectively, in the presence of sodium methoxide.
