Abstract
Cycloalkanones (1) oxidized with 30% hydrogen peroxide in the presence of poly(bisanthracenyl) diselenide (5b) as catalyst, produce cycloalkanecar-boxylic acids (2) having one carbon atom less in the ring that the substrate. Although preparative yield of acids 2 does not exceed 60% the reaction can be applied as a simple way for synthesis of cycloalkanecarboxylic acids with five to seven-membered ring.
