An Easy Method for Obtaining Percentage Points of Order Statistics

Pages 319-321 | Published online: 09 Apr 2012

Abstract

Percentage points of order statistics associated with sampling from many standard distributions can be found easily and quickly making tables and special computer programs unnecessary. The procedure requires a quantile of the F distribution and is demonstrated for those cases in which the sampled distribution is standard normal, standard gamma, standard logistic, standard Cauchy, standard extreme value, standard double exponential. standard log normal, Pareto, standard Weibull, inverse Gaussian, binomial, Poisson and negative binomial.
