Abstract

Three-dimensional scanning and modeling technology has been successfully used to solve apparel sizing and fit problems. The new technology not only assists consumers to find good-fit clothes with individual body information, but also enables apparel manufacturers to deliver customized products with personal fit preferences. In tis series of papers, we report the recent work in developing an integrated system that performs body scanning, body modeling, e-tape measurement, and virtual try-on. Tbe present paper focuses on the introduction of a rotary body scanner using structural laser stripes. The new scanner aims at improving its practicality to meet tbe speed, cost, portability and other requirements in operation.
