Abstract

A large number of factors influence the frictional properties of fabrics. In this paper, the influence of the fabric structure on the frictional characteristics of woven fabrics is investigated. The relations between the fabric-structural-asperity index (FSAI) that is defined in this work and frictional parameters are examined. The results reveal that this new index is a very useful means to explain the frictional behaviour of woven fabrics.
