Abstract
The essay that follows represents a departure from our practice of reviewing two or three significant books on a particular subject. Since much of the material on year‐round operation is found in periodicals or in studies conducted by individual school systems, our reviewer, Mr. Hack, surveyed the current literature and selected the most significant reports for inclusion in his essay. Mr. Hack is assistant professor of education at The Ohio State University.
