This Special Issue Celebrates the Life and Scientific Career of Professor Marc Feix (June 29, 1928–July 4, 2005)
This special issue is dedicated to the memory of Professor Marc Feix whose pioneering work on the Vlasov equation inspired several generations of plasma physicists. Professor Feix presented the opening invited lecture at Vlasovia 2003, participated extensively in the technical discussions throughout the conference, and co‐authored, with Professor Pierre Bertrand, an authoritative article on the theory and applications of the Vlasov equation that appears in Part I of this special issue. He passed away after a short illness on July 4, 2005.
