Conference on transport theory firence, Italy, June 7—9, 1978.

Abstract

A conference sponsored by the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Gruppo Nazionale per la Fisica Matematica (director V. Boffi) and organized by A. Belleni-Morante of the Universitá di Firenze and C. Cercignani, Politecnico di Milano, was held in Firenze June 7—9. There were 34 participants, 13 foreign and the remainder Italian, 19 of whom presented papers during the three days. It is a real tribute to the excellence of the presentation and the general enthusiasm kindled by the organizers that the participants by and large were able to forgo the overwhelming temptation to spend their time on sight-seeing and otherwise enjoying the surroundings in what is perhaps the world's most beautiful city. Instead, everyone attended the sessions, argued, discussed, debated and otherwise participated and, presumably, learned.
