Abstract
Pantograph overhead line system interactions are studied. The importance of ‘small terms’ in the cable models is examined, i.e. bending stiffness and nonlinearities. The methods of study are wave propagation investigations and direct simulations of an interacting pantograph with the overhead line system. The weak nonlinearities are found to be the most important ‘small terms’. Presag of the contact cable is found to have negative influence on the dynamics.
