Hunting Instability Analysis and H Controlled Stabilizer Design for High Speed Railway Passenger Car

Abstract

First in this paper, the nonlinear stability for a high speed railway passenger car is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Numerical methods are used to evaluate the Hopf bifurcation point and limit cycles of the vehicle system. And full scale roller rig test is carried out for the validation of the theoretical analysis. Then the H robustness control theory is applied to design an actively controlled secondary lateral suspension. The controller is designed according to a simple car body-bogie frame model. Numerical computation shows that the use of active secondary suspension can not only ensure the hunting stability, but also improve the dynamic responses of the high speed passenger car. An attempt is made to realize active control for the secondary lateral suspension forces and to carry out test validation on roller rig.
