Madam: — Faecal samples submitted by veterinarians to the Ruakura Animal Health Laboratory from young calves with diarrhoea are subjected to bacteriological and virological examinations. Known infectious agents causing neonatal diarrhoea, eg. E. coli, rotavirus, and coronavirus are frequently isolated. More recently samples have been examined for cryptosporidium oocysts.
