A preliminary investigation into the aetiology of enzootic pneumonia of sheep (“Southland Pneumonia”)

Pages 128-133 | Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Abstract

Extract

Enzootic pneumonia has been recognized for a great number of years as a fatal disease of adult sheep in the south Otago and Southland districts of New Zealand. A full description of the clinical and pathological aspects of this disease is contained in the paper by Salisbury (Citation1957), so it is proposed to refer only briefly to these aspects and to record a few additional observations made during the course of the present investigation. The author agrees with the statement of Salisbury that enzootic pneumonia in New Zealand is identical with enzootic pneumonia in Wales as described by Montgomerie et al. (Citation1938).
