This issue is the first to be published officially under a new arrangement which marks a major change in the publishing of the New Zealand Veterinary Journal. Since it was started, the Journal has shown a welcome expansion, both in size and in numbers' printed, but this inevitably created problems. The management of its affairs and the technical tasks of publishing became too great to be handled efficiently by an entirely amateur staff widely dispersed from one another and from the printers. When it became certain that it was further growth and not regression that was likely, an approach was made to the Council of the New Zealand Veterinary Association for authority to employ paid assistance for some of the work. This was granted ; but, shortly afterwards, a more attractive possibility was presented. As a result, after suitable negotiations, Messrs Editorial Services Limited were appointed publishers of the Journal as from 1 December, 1957. This firm has a special interest in scientific publishing, and we look forward to a long period of happy association with them, just as we have been fortunate in having had, from the beginning, the services of printers of very high repute in the scientific field.
