The detection of Brucella ovis infection in rams

Pages 64-66 | Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Abstract

Extract

Each year in New Zealand, many rams are palpated for lesions of the epididymes and testes. Although regarded initially as a method of detecting infertile rams (Crawford and James, Citation1950), the technique is now regarded primarily as a method of detecting infection with the organism for which Buddie (Citation1956) proposed the name Brucella ovis.
