Studies on infectious Laryngotracheitis in New Zealand

Pages 67-71 | Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Abstract

Extract

A mild form of Infectious Laryngotracheitis (I.L.T.) was reported in New Zealand for the first time by R. M. Salisbury, R. G. Webster, and R. R. Russell (pers. comm.). Since 1957, the virus has been isolated from twenty different poultry farms, but clinical reports and serum neutralization tests suggest that many more farms have had outbreaks of the disease, although the virus has not been isolated from samples submitted for examination. A limited number of virus isolates also vary in some of their properties from the originally isolated virus.
