The association between vitamin E deficient diets and the development of three distinct pathological entities—namely, degenerative changes in skeletal and cardiac muscle, “yellow fat”, disease, and liver necrosis, has been established experimentally in pigs by a number of workers (Obel, Citation1953; Hove and Seibold, Citation1955; Davis and Gorham, Citation1951; Forbes and Draper, Citation1957; Eggert et al., Citation1957).
