Preliminary transmission trials reported by CitationHartley and Marshall (1957) showed that intraperitoneal injection of pregnant ewes with macerated Toxoplasma-infected foetal membrane, and intravenous injection of proliferative forms of a recently isolated sheep strain of Toxoplasma, resulted in the development of clinical toxoplasmosis of the foetus and foetal membranes.
