Feild outbreaks of acute lameness in sheep in New Zealand are usually attributed to contagious footrot (Fusiformis nodosus) (CitationBeveridge, 1941), foot abscess (Sphaerophorus necrophorus) (CitationGregory, 1939), or so-called “nutritional scald” Occasionally Erysipelothrix rhusio pathiae is also responsible (CitationWhitten, 1951).
