Extract

Although Syngamus trachea in birds has been reported many times in overseas countries, it has been recorded only once in New Zealand (Whitten and Salisbury, Citation1951). On that occasion it was diagnosed in aviary birds, wild starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) and a blackbird (Turdus merula).
