Abstract

Extract

The ingestion of large amounts of carbohydrate in the form of sweet corn produces a disease manifested by severe toxaemia, dehydration, recumbency and a high mortality. Blood and Henderson (Citation1963) recorded that animals which broke into fields of ripe, green corn, especially during dry seasons, gorged themselves and developed acute ruminal impaction.
