Abstract

Extract

Crib-biting is a relatively common vice, particularly among stabled horses, and, in the majority of the less severe cases, the habit can be checked by various types of throat straps. Most of these are designed to cause pressure on the glottis during the “wind-suck”, while the more severe ones bear spikes which actually goad the animal at the height of the “wind-suck”.
