One of the most important changes currently taking place in veterinary medicine in the United States of America is the mushrooming interest of the profession in research (Armistead, Citation1966). The same is true in New Zealand. Every veterinarian is a potential research worker, and the aim of the Veterinary Faculty at Massey University is to produce graduates trained to follow advances in research critically, and, when necessary, to carryout their own researches.
